Professional Cookery C&G VRQ Diploma Level 2 at New College Nottingham
Taking your cookery passion and skills that one step further, this course offers advanced training in the cookery profession.
Working in our award winning restaurant – Adams Restaurant and Brasserie at least once a week will give you a good feel of the fast paced environment that professional cookery provides.
Often taking the lead on service, under the guidance and support of your tutors, you will be able to excel in the skills needed to run a kitchen.
ncn Clarendon has state of the art kitchens where you will be able to hone your skills to perfection.
You will also be able to prepare your own menus and maybe even see them in action at the Adams Restaurant.
Careers available to you once finishing the course include; chef, kitchen assistant, restaurant manager and more. Before you know it you could be planning menus, preparing to oversee the preparation of food in hotels or managing your own kitchen.
The course has a variety of units to get you up to speed in professional cookery.
Not only will you have the chance to work in ncn’s kitchens and fully working restaurant but we are also in partnership with Capital FM Arena, who will offer you real work experience in; catering, crewing, event set-up, event management and front of house hospitality.

In the last two years our catering students have met; Jamie Oliver, Marco Pierre White and Sat Bains.
You must have all of the following;
Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Professional Cookery at merit, plus GCSE English or Maths (1 at grade C or above) or equivalent
Functional Skills may be accepted in place of GCSE Maths and/or English
If you are over 19 but have industry experience and do not have the necessary qualifications you are welcome to apply and will be considered for interview.
You will be assessed through practical tests and written assignments.
- Level 3 Hospitality Supervision & Leadership Diploma (NVQ)
- Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Diploma (NVQ) in Professional Cookery or Hospitality Supervision
- Level 3 Professional Cookery City & Guilds VRQ Diploma
