Beauty Therapy NVQ Diploma at Solihull College & University Centre

Course description

Our Beauty Therapy Level 2 Diploma is for those who wish to enter the beauty industry at the base level and work on fundamental skills, progressing to a higher level and more specialised area upon completion.

Course content

On this course you will study:

- Make-up
- Eye lash and eyebrow tinting; eyebrow shaping; individual eye lash application; stripe lash application
- Facial treatments
- Waxing treatments
- Manicure treatments
- Pedicure treatments
- Reception
- Health and safety in the salon environment
- How to promote services and products to the client
- How to work effectively as a Beauty therapist.

Entry requirements

You will need at least a D grade English language, a satisfactory reference, and a satisfactory school report, coming from school.

Assessment

Assessment will be ongoing and it is in a range of different tasks, half the course will involve practical assignments assessed within our college commercial salons, and the other half within a theory classroom which will involve assignments, external multiple choice exams; course work and a portfolio.

How do I get a place on the course?

A successful College interview will be required.

What are the entry requirements?

The course will run at our Blossomfield and Woodlands Campus.

Trips and external training will be offered subject to additional costs.

A minimum of 88% attendance is needed to complete the course, however 100% is expected.

Enhancement activities (e.g. Dermalogical product training; external speakers and demonstration.)

You will need to come equipped with beauty therapy tools/equipment.

- Uniform,
- Beauty kit,
- Portfolio.

You will not be required to bring in electrical equipment the college will supply.

Uniform and kit approximate cost £200

Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.

If you haven't achieved an A*-C grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.

- Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up Studies .
