Body Repair and Paint Apprenticeship Level 2 at Warwickshire College Group

Course description

Learn about and use the tools and workshop equipment in a real bodyshop environment. Prep cars for painting using body filler and primer. The emphasis is on knowledge delivery in College and practical competence assessed in the workplace.

Course content

You will study a variety of units relating to body and paint including:

  • Health and safety
  • Supporting job roles in the automotive environment
  • Removal and replacement procedures
  • Skills in tool use
  • Applying fillers and foundation materials
  • Repairing metals and pre-painted surfaces
  • Repairing minor paint defects

Entry requirements

The Apprenticeship programme is for young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who wish to pursue a career in the vehicle body repair industry. You will need to have grades C-G in English, Maths and ICT.

You must also have a work placement. 


Assessments are carried out in the workplace by an Assessor. Units are achieved by written tasks and assessment of the candidate in the workplace. There are also a series of externally set and marked tests.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course you can move on to the Level 3 Apprenticeship or employment.
