Level 3 Diploma in Make-up at Newcastle-under-Lyme College

Course description

The aim of this course is to provide a programme of training leading to a nationally recognised professional qualification for individuals who would like to work within the make-up industry.

During the course you will cover a wide range of units including Health and Safety, Applying Make-Up, Instruct on Applying Make-Up, Promote Products and Services to Clients, Camouflage Make-Up, Media Make-Up, Design and Apply Face and Body Art, Fashion and Photographic, Client Care and Communication in Beauty Related Industries and Appling Airbrush Make-Up to the Face.

Entry requirements

It would be an advantage to have a prior knowledge/experience of applying make-up, however this is not a necessity. GCSE grade C or above in English, maths and Science is required or a qualification that is equivalent. GCSE in Art would also be an advantage or a keen interest in creative applications.

Assessment

You are continually assessed throughout the course by building a portfolio of work. Practical assessments will be observed by your assessor on a selection of clients. External assessments will be completed with written papers.

Financial information

Newcastle Maintenance Allowance (NMA): Anyone with a household income under £21,000 can receive £20 per week financial support to help pay for travel and meals and meet the costs of essential trips, books, stationery and equipment. The payments will be subject to full attendance on your course. A range of other financial support is available, depending on your personal circumstances.

Completion of this course leads to career prospects in the make-up and beauty industry and also enables you to progress to other courses.
