Perfoming Arts at The Bramcote College

Course description

This course is designed to develop your existing skills in the Performing Arts as well as to give you new ones. We would prefer you to have a C in a Performing Arts subject (eg Dance, Drama, Music) but are more than willing to consider any student who has an interest in this subject. There will be an audition for all of those wanting to take Performing Arts.

The AS course is divided into three Units;

Unit 1: Skills Development: 33% As an individual you will assess your abilities along a range of different performance skills and then work with your teachers to improve these skills throughout the first two terms. You will create a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your progress. You will take part in a number of shows as part of this unit.

Unit 2: Planning for a Creative Event: 33% You will work as a group to plan and put on an event for a specific audience. You will learn about business methods such as costings and meetings, as well as about how to put on a show successfully. You will create a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your progress.

Unit 3: Performing to a Commission: 33% You will work as a group to devise and perform a piece lasting around 30 minutes to a visiting examiner. At A2 there are a further three

Units; Unit 4: Employment Opportunities in the Performing Arts– 33% You will study the whole Performing Arts industry across Performance, Administration and Technical sides before choosing a job for which you will which you demonstrate your skills by creating a portfolio of evidence.

Entry requirements

5 x A*- C grades at GCSE.
