Light Vehicle Maintenance And Repair Principles Level 3 Diploma at Milton Keynes College

Course description

If you are interested in a career as a vehicle technician, this course will build on your skills from Level 2 and will give you fully-skilled technician status within the industry. Completion of the Level 3 can enable progression onto relevant higher education courses or employment.

Course content

Units include:

  • Health and safety
  • The diagnosis and rectification of engine technology
  • The diagnosis and rectification of vehicle chassis systems
  • The diagnosis and rectification of vehicle electrical systems
  • The diagnosis and rectification of vehicle transmission systems
  • Functional skills*

*Functional skills qualifications are designed to provide the necessary levels of English, maths and ICT skills needed to ‘function’ in today’s society and workplace. They are a key component of College programmes.

Entry requirements

You need to have successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. There is no direct entry onto the course.

Assessment

You will be assessed through the production of a portfolio, assignments and online exams as well as assessment of practical tasks in the workshop. Functional Skills are assessed by on-line exams and you will be given guidance and support to achieve these.

Upon successful completion of this course you can seek full time employment within the motor industry in roles such as:

  • Fast fit technician

  • Parts advisor

Alternatively you may choose to continue to an Apprenticeship or Higher Education.
