Law AS/A2 Level at Guildford College

Course description

Provides a good introduction to the English legal system and a detailed examination of Contract Law.

Topics include: AS: police powers, civil and criminal justice systems, legal personnel and the main sources of law. At A2 Level the focus is on how English law and contracts are made and problems that may arise in contractual relationships. Goes well with English, History, Sociology and Psychology.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language (B grade preferred)

Assessment

Exams. Regular homework assignments and test essays in class.

 

Future opportunities

Degree or careers in law or business and commerce, Institute of Legal Executives courses (available at Guildford College) or related degrees in business, human resources or criminology.

Further information

Students will have the opportunity to participate in a court visit and other activities run in association with the University of Surrey and the University of Law.

All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade C in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.
