Dance at Island Innovation VI Form Campus

Course description

If you have a passion for dance and are

interested in developing your skills, then

this course is for you. Throughout the

two years you will study a variety of

contemporary forms as well as exploring

practical theories on a number of

influential choreographers.

 

Course content

You will take part in technique classes,

workshops, choreography, performance

and theory lessons. The course allows

you to learn by exploring and developing

your understanding of dance through

practical work as well as analytical work.

It allows you to work creatively

in dancing and expand your own

choreographic skills. You will develop

your understanding of how dancers

train, create and perform work. You will

also be able to analyse and record both

your own pieces as well as professional

works. You will acquire knowledge

of modern and contemporary dance

influences, conventions and styles in

both cultural and historical contexts.

Entry requirements

5 A* - C at GCSE

Future opportunities

Accepted A Level accreditation for entry

onto university as well as into many

other higher education institutes in arts

related subjects. There are many career

choices available in dance; teaching,

performance, choreography, dance

therapy.
