Health & Social Care BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Bromley College of Further & Higher Education
This course helps you to develop the knowledge communication skills and practical skills required by Care professionals. It is the same level as GCSE.
The course consists of
3 core units:
- Human Lifespan Development
- Health and Social Care Values
- Carrying out a research project in Health and Social Care
4 mandatory units:
- Effective Communication in H & S Care
- Equality and Diversity in H & S Care
- Individual Rights in H & S Care
- Healthy Living
plus, 6 optional units which could be for example First Aid, Social Influences, Health & Well-being, Child Development and Observation.
Functional skills at level 2 for English and mathematics or GCSE English and mathematics if you have a D grade will also be studied.
4 GCSEs A*-D with a grade D in Eng Lang or Functional Skills English at level 1, and mathematics at grade D or functional skills mathematics at level 1.
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance & suitable reference
Assessment is through both internal and external assessment. The units entitled, Human lifespan Development and Healthy Living are both externally assessed through examinations. Coursework units are assessed by the completion of projects, assignments or presentations. Units are graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
Methods of teaching include, role play, discussion, peer/group work, written, and practical exercises.
You are required to attend college and also placement. Placements are arranged with our dedicated placement officers and include Care homes youth settings, nurseries, schools, rehabilitation centres and nursing homes.
