The aims and objectives of the AQA Level 3 Mathematical Studies course are to enable students to:

  • Think critically about mathematical content
  • Analyse and interpret everyday mathematical situations
  • Analyse, interpret and represent large data sets
  • Create mathematical representations using technology
  • Solve mathematical problems using a variety of new techniques

Students are introduced to the common content modules:

  • Analysis of Data
  • Maths for Personal Finance
  • Estimation

Plus one of the following optional modules:

  • Statistical Techniques
  • Critical Path and Risk Analysis
  • Graphical Techniques

Course content

Students will study all four of the common content modules in both year 12 and year 13. Student’s skills in these areas will be developed significantly over the course of the two years with a hands-on approach being used in class.
