Health and Social Care (L2) BTEC Extended Certificate at Stanmore College

Course description

This course is a one year full time Level 2 course about working with adults and children in a Health & Social Care setting. This course consists of 4 compulsory units:

Unit 1: Human Lifespan Development.
Unit 2: Health and Social Care Values.
Unit 3: Effective Communication in Health & Social Care.
Unit 9: Healthy Living Further optional specialist units are selected to meet the requirements of the qualification.

All students will spend one day a week for 10 weeks on work experience arranged by the College. Progression students require an overall Merit Profile and English (GCSE - c grade) or Key Skills level 2 (Communication) to progress to Level 3 courses.

Extra Curricular Activities
All students can add to their main programme of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Education and employment.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at mostly D grade, including English or an equivalent qualification. Alternatively CACHE level 1 award, certificate and diploma in introduction to health, social care and children's and young people's settings (QCF).

How long is the course?
This is a one-year full-time course.

Additional Studies: Opportunity to retake English Language GCSE Key Skills Level 2 Literacy.

Assessment

EXAMINATION BOARD: EDEXCEL
Successful completion of work experience and coursework for each unit, internally and externally assessed and graded.

Future opportunities

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3.

Diploma in Childcare & Education Level 3

Employment.
