IT - BTEC Level 3 at Ashton Community Science College
If your ambition is to pursue a career in computing and information communication technologies (ICT), then the BTEC National Level 3 Information Technology course will give you just the start you need. You will be using our superb computer facilities and have the guidance of staff with a vast working knowledge of computer technology in industry and commerce. The computers in our new Sixth Form centre are equipped with industry-relevant software; ensuring you gain the skills needed to enable you to progress into the workplace or onto further study.
BTEC Level 3 Information Technology is a vocational or work-related qualification; you will have the opportunity to gain specific knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to future work. The course is continually assessed not examined so you’ll be able to keep track of your progress throughout the year.
This course consists of a combination of mandatory and optional units each with a credit value. For the Certificate you must complete the mandatory units worth 30 credits. For the Subsidiary Diploma you must complete the mandatory units plus optional units to give a total of 60 credits. For the Diploma you must complete the mandatory units plus optional units to give a total of 120 credits. For the Extended Diploma you must complete the mandatory units plus optional units to give a total of 180 credits.
A BTEC Level 3 National Information Technology qualification can lead into a wide variety of careers, such as an IT technician, a network manager, a web designer and many more. It even opens up the opportunity to continue your studies and to take BTEC Level 4 HNCs and Level 5 HNDs. The Level 3 BTEC course can even allow you to go on to Degree Studies at University.
