Business A level at Luton Sixth Form College
If you enjoy watching the Apprentice or Dragon's Den then this is the subject for you. A level Business continues to be a very popular subject because the course is relevant to the world around us and provides students with an understanding of what makes a successful business and why other businesses fail. Next time you watch Dragon’s Den think about why the Dragon’s invested in some entrepreneurs and not in others. This will provide you with an insight as to why students study Business.
Students learn primarily through the use of Business Case Studies including: Apple, Tesco, Amazon, Ryanair and other topical business stories. If a business is in the news then we will used it to help develop your understanding and application of business theory. The course also has a strong focus upon written assessment to enable you to have the skills necessary to do well in your examinations. You will also experience learning through group work and presentations which will help you to develop your team working skills and confidence.

- finance and human resource performance
- analysing the strategic position of a business
- choosing strategic direction
- methods to pursue strategies
- managing strategic change
To start any AS levels you need to meet the general college entry requirements. No previous knowledge of Business is required. You must have GCSE English grade C and GCSE Maths grade C.

3 Exam papers sat at the end of the second year.
Many business students progress onto university to study business further and later progress into careers in finance, sales, administration and marketing. It is also excellent for a range of management roles in the private or public sectors.
