Course description

The course is divided into six units, with three AS units in Year 12 and three units in Year 13.

The six units are:

AS Level Units (Year 12)

Lifestyle, Transport, Genes and Health – 20%

Development, Plants and the Environment – 20% Practical Biology and Research Skills (internal assessment) – 10%

A2 Level Units (Year 13)

The Natural Environment and Species Survival 20% Energy, Exercise and Coordination 20%

Practical Biology and Investigative Skills (internal assessment) 10%

Entry requirements

To study this course at A Level you will be required to achieve, in addition to the general entry requirements, two grade B’s in any of the following: GCSE Science, GCSE Additional Science, GCSE Further Additional or GCSE Biology, plus grade C in GCSE Mathematics and Grade C in English Language. Please note that BTEC and OCR National courses in Science do not fulfil the entry requirements.
