Course description

The course provides a foundation for study of Health and Social Care, which will be suitable for further or higher education, or entry into employment.

 

Course content

The course includes the following units:
• Communication and values
• Human growth and development
• Positive care environment
• Meeting individual needs
• Promoting health and well-being
• Investigating diseases

Entry requirements

Minimum of five Cs at GCSE or a Merit or Distinction from the BTEC Level 2 in Health and Social Care.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of AS/A-level Health and Social Care offers several routes for progression. These include: Higher education opportunities such as a degree/diploma in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, radiotherapy, paramedic science, speech and language therapy and health studies. Direct entry into employment within the health and social care services such as a care worker, teaching assistant, nursery assistant and youth work.
