Below you will find some information regarding the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Law. Please note that there are some entry requirements for this course.
This course will give you an insight into a range of aspects in the UK legal system. Topics you will cover include:
Unit 1: Dispute solving in the legal system
Unit 2: Understanding law making
Unit 3: Aspects of legal liability
Unit 4: Unlawful homicide and Police powers
Unit 5: Aspects of property offences and Police powers
Unit 8: Aspects of the Law of Tort.
To access this course you will need 5 A* - C grades including English and Maths at GCSE.
This course involves a mixture of ongoing assessment. Assessment is continual through various types of coursework ranging from presentations to written reports.
Through this course you will develop analytical ability and critical thinking. It will develop your problem solving skills through the application of legal rules. Naturally, studying Law will provide a useful background for studying a degree in this subject.
However, it will also support study and careers in areas such as journalism, teaching, social work and public services.
There is a high level of written communication involved in terms of essay writing and you should be prepared to spend time on independent research. This course will be well-suited to you if you enjoy subjects such as History and English.
