Business Level 3 BTEC at Oriel High School

Course description

In an increasingly competitive culture it could help you stand out from the crowd. Business related topics are among the most popular fields of study at universities worldwide, particularly at graduate level.
 
You will look at the principles of business that underpin every organisation, investigating real businesses and how they operate to create a true vocational course with skills that can be carried through to many careers

Course content

Students completing the Single Award will complete six units over the two years. They include:
»» Unit 1: The Business Environment.
»» Unit 2: Business Resources.
»» Unit 3: Introduction to Marketing.
»» Unit 4: Business Communication.
»» Unit 13: Recruitment and Selection in Business.
»» Unit 19: Developing Teams in Business.
Students completing the Double Award will also complete these units:
»» Unit 5: Business Accounting.
»» Unit 10: Market Research in Business.
»» Unit 36: Starting a Small Business.
»» Unit 12: Internet Marketing in Business.
»» Unit 16: Human Resource Management in Business.
»» Unit 27: Understanding Health and Safety in the Workplace.
 
 

Entry requirements

5 or more grades at A*-C including equivalents across at least 4 subjects
 
. It is preferable to have achieved a C grade in English and Maths.

Assessment

How will I be assessed?
 
The Diploma will be taught over 720 guided learning hours and has 2 examinations, 1
set task (external) and 5 units of internally assessed coursework, with practical elements included.
 
The Extended Certificate will be taught over 360 guided learning hours and has 2
examinations and two units of internally assessed coursework.
