Core Science at Shaftesbury School

Course description

Science: Core Science GCSE covers the key concepts in Science across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, including Human Health, Products from the Earth and Energy. The syllabus followed is AQA with assessment by three terminal 60 minute written papers and internal practical assessments. Each of these contributes 25%. Students successfully completing the course will find themselves with a GCSE that skills them for evaluation, data handling, literacy and numeracy in future studies. They will gain the scientific literacy and reflective skills to consider modern day Scientific developments presented by the media. An interesting and rewarding qualification, seen as essential by many employers and educators.

Entry requirements

Grade E or above in GCSE Maths, English and three other subjects.
