Course description

This course leads to the award of VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery. Your study programme will comprise of your main programme of study, employability skills which includes guest speakers, placement, trips and visits to employers within the region and nationally and also competitions.

This qualification will prepare you for a career within some Hospitality and Catering organisations, but is primarily designed as a progression route into Level 3. The aims of the programme are to; provide an educational foundation for a range of careers in the Travel Industry; provide relevant studies for seeking employment; provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for future studies and career development; develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.

The VRQ Level 2 Diplomas in Professional Cookery qualifications are designed to meet the needs of candidates who want to work as professional chefs within the hospitality and catering sector. It provides a basis for understanding different aspects of the sector in relation to individual roles and the industry as a whole.

The VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery has been designed in consultation with industry specialists and give a thorough and comprehensive introduction to the hospitality and catering sector.

This qualification will be assessed through practical assessment, multiple choice tests, short answer questions and assignments.
