Geography A Level at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

A Geography A level allows students to develop a whole range of employability skills and a culturally sensitive view of the world that makes them truly stand out. Obvious career choices cover the areas of sustainability, urban regeneration, energy supply, retail location, managing the effects of hazards and climate change geography, however careers in business, law, human rights, and international relations or welfare are common choices too. Our challenging curriculum is delivered through a host of exciting and innovative ways and covers the following areas: Physical and Human Geography; Geographical skills; Contemporary Geographical Issues; Plate Tectonics; World Cities; and Contemporary Conflict and Challenges.

Entry requirements

In order to study this A level programme students must gain 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C or an equivalent full Level 2 qualification, including English Language and Geography at grade B.

Assessment

A Levels are assessed by a mixture of coursework and exams.

You could be eligible for a 16-19 bursary to help with education-related costs.
