Level 3 Game Management at Newton Rigg College

Course description

This course is designed to produce students who have knowledge to industry standard and skills appropriate for the role of modern gamekeeper or game manager. It will give a thorough grounding in varied background theory and practical skills.

Course content

Course Themes:

• Game rearing • Working dogs • Game meat hygiene • Upland game management • Pest and predator control • Firearms and shoot management • Undertake gamebird production • Estate skills • Work experience • Deer management • Woodland habitat management • Wildlife, ecology and conservation • English and maths provision where appropriate

Entry requirements

Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to include any 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade D in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English and Maths at Level 2
