Vehicle Maintenance City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma at Doncaster College

Course description

This course is designed for people with an interest in the motor industry. This is a mainly practical course making excellent use of the College's well equipped and modern workshop. 

The course provides a first step into operation, repair and servicing of motor vehicles.  The skills you will learn include how to work safely, in an organised way, how to service the modern vehicle, change lubricants, safely remove and replace brake pads, check the service ability of lights

Course content

The course consists of 6 units, ranging from Health and Safety, Careers in the Motor Industry to Interim Servicing and Other Vehicle Systems. 

Alongside the main motor vehicle qualification you will also have the opportunity to improve your Maths and English skills.  All of these go towards completing your programme of study.

 

Entry requirements

  • 4 GCSE's at grade D or above including  Maths and English

Or 

  • Introduction to Vehicle Technology Entry 3 Certificate plus 4 GCSE's at grade D or above, including Maths and English
  • All applicants should have an interest in the motor industry.

Assessment

​You will be assessed completing a series of tasks, designed to allow you to demonstrate both your practical skills and knowledge.

These tasks are intended to show your present ability and assess your suitability to progress to the Level 2 Certificate Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or the Level 2 Diploma in Motor Vehicle

Future opportunities

Successful learners will have an opportunity to progress onto a Level 2 Certificate, Level 2 Diploma or an Apprenticeship.

Opportunities exist to enter the Industry as a fast fit technician or for further study as an apprentice at Level 2.
