Business and Management apt awards Access to HE Diploma Level 3 (W) at Cornwall College

Course description

Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. This is ideal for those who want to re-train or re-direct their lives into Business and Management or who want to take a degree in Business or Management related subjects. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part-time employment and family commitments.

Course content

You will study core modules such as: Production Management, People in Organisations,  Business Management, Economics, Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance, Marketing and Law. You will also need to study modules such as: research skills, exam techniques and ICT.  For full list please refer to the course options box at the top right hand side of the webpage.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be invited to attend an Access Workshop where full course information is given and you will be expected to complete the Initial Assessment and a written excercise. You will also be given a questionnaire which needs to be returned before interview which covers your past employment and previous experiences which will help us give you the right advice and guidance.

All applicants need to successfully complete Level 2 Literacy and Level 1 Numeracy Initial Assessments.You will then be invited in on a separate date for a one to one interview for approximately 1/2 hour.


Written assignments are the main form of assessment but we also have some exams and presentations. We purposely use a variety of assessment methods to ensure you learn how to perform well in all of these areas ahead of going to university. We provide lots of support so that you learn how to structure essays, prepare for exams and overcome presentation nerves.

Future opportunities

You can progress on to various University degrees or other Higher Education programmes. Some students decide to go straight into employment. Previous students have gone onto study: Law, Marketing, Accountancy, Human Resources, Business Studies etc.
