Games Development Level 3 BTEC at Oak Academy

Course description

The Media department is equipped with an editing suite, has a number of HD cameras and a variety of game engines.
Students will learn how to operate and make use of these technologies both within the course as well an extra-curricular activity if so desired.
Students will be encouraged to pass on skills to other students interested in games development within the whole Academy.
 
The Games development course will provide students with the understanding, knowledge and skills that required to enter into the work force or go on to Higher Education.
It is a dynamic course that introduces practical concepts and projects covering a range of different mediums allows the to development of creativity.
The course will appeal to those interested in all aspects of gaming from graphics and storyboarding to character development and animation and sound.
 
This course is broadly equivalent to one or two A-Level(s) (GCE) and offers flexibility in choice through a variety of optional units. The Games development subsidiary course has three mandatory units and three optional units.
 
 
Games Development is a highly popular subject area and can provide a wide range of opportunities to follow.
The course allows students to explore communication, graphics, 3D animation, 3D modelling and programming at Higher Education.
This course will also enable students to develop transferable communication and technological savvy skills across subject areas.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements:
5 A*-C GCSE including Maths GCSE Grade C.
