History at Palmer's College

Course description

History helps us to understand the world we live in now. We look at key decisions throughout history and understand how change occurred.

Course content

• Life in Nazi Germany 1933-1945. We will study how Nazism reshaped history and what the impact on the German people was.
• Britain 1483-1529. We will study the fall of the Yorkist monarchy under Richard III and the rise of the Tudor dynasty under Henry VII and Henry VIII.

There is the possibility of two options being available for A2 History following on from the AS units, 20th Century and Early Modern History. They offer more specialist study in the chosen area.

Entry requirements

Minimum of four Cs and two Bs at GCSE which must include a grade B in English Language or another written subject. If you have studied GCSE History then you must have at least a grade C.

Future opportunities

History is a very popular subject for university, as well as being well-respected by employers. It combines well with a wide variety of subjects and can lead to a variety of occupations such as law, media, teaching, management and museum services.
