Extended Project at Knutsford Academy
The Extended Project is a Level 3 qualification introduced in September 2008 as a free-standing qualification.Learners may choose to take the Extended Project Qualification as an extension from studies for other qualifications atLevel 3, for example GCE, BTEC, NVQ, other academic or vocational qualifications including Modern Apprenticeships.Alternatively the Extended Project Qualification may explore an area of personal interest or activity outside the mainprogramme of study. The Qualification comes with the points score equivalent to half an A2 and could be much needed UCAS points.
Delivery of the Extended Project Qualification at Knutsford will involve some teaching of the relevant skills plus mentoringand supervision of the learner’s progress. It will also involve extended independent work by the learner. Learners will be required to:
· choose an area of interest
· draft a project title
· draft aims of the project· plan, research and carry out the project
· provide evidence of all stages of project production
· deliver a presentation to a specified audience
Unit 4 – Text Transformation Assessment – Coursework Weighting – 40%
Candidates transform two literary works into different genres which will be chosen from a wider reading list. Candidates will produce a coursework folder that includes the transformed texts and associated commentary
A* - C grades with a B grade in the applicant's chosen A level subjects for automatic entry. If an applicant attains C grades in the GCSE subjects they wish to study at A levels, entry is subject to a discussion with the Heads of Subject and Head of Sixth Form
