Construction Multi Skills Level 1 Diploma at Hertford Regional College
This course will prepare you to work in the construction industry and is designed to allow you to experience different areas of this industry, especially if you are unsure of which pathway to take. You will benefit from working in a practical construction environment in our extensive new facilities which will introduce you to the trades of Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting and Decorating.
To achieve this Construction Qualification a candidate has to be assessed as competent. Units:
- Handling and storing materials and components
- Removing and replacing fittings and fixtures
- Cutting, laying and fixing components
- Mixing materials
- Applying finishing materials
- Health & Safety
- Have a keen interest in the Construction industry
- Demonstrate literacy skills at Level 1 or Entry Level 3
- Course work assessed internally
- Practical work assessed to achieve City and Guild 6218 Basic Construction Skills
Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2016. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2016, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last three years, and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). However, fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). You will be required to pay an administration fee, exam fees, kit fee, materials fee and an Awarding Body Registration fee if applicable. For these costs please contact our Information Centre.
When you have successfully completed this course, you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification, developed your basic level skills and have opportunities to start a Modern Apprenticeship, or full time Diploma in your chosen trade at level 1.
Site visits/sports/trips alongside your main programme. Basic skills (functional skills) in maths and English.
What will I need?
Boots (safety kite marked) for practical sessions – all other PPE provided. Overalls are optional.
