Art & Design: Ceramics A-Level at Kenton School

Course description

What will I study?

How to make craft ceramics including slab building, coiling and throwing. All 3D work is supported by sketchbook and other 2D work looking at the work of other artists/craftsmen.

Course content

AS - 1 unit of coursework, 1 exam unit 5 hour examination period.

A2 - 1 unit of coursework , 1 Exam unuit 15 hour examination period.

Entry requirements

Grade C plus recommendation from current Art teacher in any art subject.


Syllabus/Exam Board/Level

AS/A2 Art and design (3D Studies) AQA

All coursework and examination pieces are Internally assessed then moderated by the examination board.

Future opportunities

This course is suitable for anyone who is contemplating a career in design or thinking about higher education in an art-related subject, including Degree level Ceramics, Automotive Design, 3D or Industrial Design. It is also suitable for others who simply enjoy making things and want to have a fully rounded education.
