Children’s Play, Learning & Development (CPLD) - BTEC Level 3 National Diploma at John Ruskin College

Course description

This course has core units covering child development, play, health & safety and working with parents. There are also a range of optional units covering food and mealtimes, working with under 3’s and working with children who have additional needs.

Work experience: 750 hours over 2 days a week in 3 different early years settings and age groups. These hours are mandatory and give you a licence to practise.

Entry requirements

It is a requirement for you to gain your licence to practise that you join the course with English and Maths GCSE at a grade C or above.

A minimum of English Language GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent) AND Maths GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent) and any of the below (unless stated otherwise):

• 2 other GCSEs at grade C (or above) OR
• Merit at Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificate (or above) OR
• Merit at Level 2 VRQ Diploma OR
• Pass at Level 2 NVQ
