Sport A Level at Withernsea High School Specialising In Humanities

Course description

In Key Stage 5 students have the opportunity to study two different courses.  Students can opt for the Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in Sport which is the equivalent of one A Level GCE.  This course takes up four lessons per week and will consist of different staff teaching a number of different units including principles of anatomy and physiology, sports coaching, analysis of sports performance, practical sports performance, sports psychology and others.

Students can also opt to study the Cambridge Technical Diploma in Sport which is the equivalent of two A Level GCE’s.  Students study twice the number of units as the introductory diploma but are involved in eight sport lessons a week. 

 

Assessment

Assessment is coursework based with no final examination. Students are expected to manage their time and resources and to meet important deadlines to keep up to date with all assignments set.
