NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing Level 1 at Stockton Riverside College

Course description

We all want to look our best and as a hairdresser or barber you can help people to do just that. Our hairdressing courses will give you the skills you need to get started. Add to that your own passion and ambition and you could go on to work as a mobile hairdresser, run your own business, work in a salon, or go on to work in the dressing room for stage or screen.

Course content

You will learn skills including styling, blow drying, setting, colouring and cutting hair, with techniques becoming more advanced as you progress. Lessons include a combination of practical demonstrations, practice, theory and e-learning. You will also learn about health and safety and customer service, and we will help you build the confidence to offer client consultations. You will learn by carrying out assignments designed to enable you to show competence. Some of these are practical, some are written, and some are spoken responses to your tutors questions.
