Physics A Level at Teignmouth Community School
The aim of this course is to encourage candidates to:
- develop their interest in and enthusiasm for Physics, including developing an interest in and preparing for further study and careers in Physics or Physics related areas
- appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society
- develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of Physics and how they relate to each other.
Under the new process, students will study six modules in total with 100% being examined and an element of practical assessment.
Anyone gaining grade B or above in both Core & Additional Science GCSEs or grade B in Physics is eligible for the course. It is important to have 5 GCSEs at grade C (or equivalent) or above (including Mathematics & English Language).
Physics A level is a subject that would be suitable for any student who is studying other courses in Biology A Level, Chemistry A Level and Maths A Level. It is particularly useful for students who intend to study engineering, veterinary medicine, science & sports degrees.
