Entry requirements

  • At least 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C across a range of subject areas, including English Language

You will need to retake GCSE Maths as part of your programme if you do not have a grade C. You may be advised to retake GCSE Science, depending on your chosen career.

A good level of knowledge and awareness of social issues would be advantageous to the study of Sociology. It would be recommended to read a range of broadsheet newspapers in order to remain updated on key issues relating to crime, education, and the family.

This A Level subject is designed to prepare you for university and so you will be expected to write essays and produce materials for in class presentations along with engaging in topical classroom discussions.

Sociology combines well with a number of subjects. The most popular combinations are Psychology, History, Government and Politics, Economics, Religious Studies and Philosophy.
