Edexcel GCE Applied-ICT A Level at Teesdale School

Course description

This course is aimed at people who are going to use ICT as a tool to solve problems, rather than as someone who is going to produce their own code themselves. 2/3rds of the course is assessed by coursework, with the remainder being assessed by computer-based examinations.

At AS level, you will learn how to analyse raw data using a relational database, as well as ways in which this data can be collected via transactional websites. You will also look at how life has changed in the “information age” and the different effects this has had on the way we live our lives, both positive and negative.

You will also learn basic fundamentals of web design using Microsoft Expression Web and create a mini web site to submit your work for Life in the Information Age. At the end of AS, there is a practical examination, where ICT is used to solve a problem that you are given three weeks before hand.
