Course description

The Maths course is for those who love Maths and want to use it as a major part of their degree course. At its core is the development of a logical mind that prepares you for whatever you want to do in life.

Course content

Over the two year course, you will study Pure Maths, which looks at the theoretical side of Mathematics and develops your knowledge and understanding of algebra and geometry. Some of the topics will be familiar to you already, but other topics, e.g. calculus, will be completely new. Alongside these modules, you will also study Applied Maths modules (statistics and mechanics), which develops your knowledge from GCSE and introduces new topics about forces and how the universe works.

Entry requirements

At least 5 full GCSEs grades 9–4 (A*–C), including English Language and Maths, plus preferably a grade 7–9 (grade A) in Maths. Students with only grade 6 (grade B) will be required to pass an entrance test. Students who enjoyed their Mathematics at Key Stage 4 would be appropriate for this course.

The course is assessed through exam-based assessments.
