*I.T. BTEC at President Kennedy School
This course is the equivalent to one A-Level, and requires students to complete and pass all four units of study within two years.
This course also allows for students to gain insight into the world of technology and computing and how this impacts businesses in the form of a weekly placement, normally in the first year of study. The course will allow for students to gain diverse understanding of many aspects related to IT. Students will also gain supplementary professional qualifications to their course linking to this subject to broaden their knowledge.
Students can opt for this qualification without any prior subject knowledge and build on their knowledge of IT, developing technical skills related to this subject.
There will be three mandatory units to be covered, with one optional unit to be studied. Two units will be externally assessed. These units include Information Technology Systems, Creating Systems to Manage Information and Using Social Media in Business.
Standard minimum level 3 Entry requirements of 5 GCSEs A*-C inc. Maths and English. If students have taken the IT BTEC Certificate qualification at GCSE, they must have achieved at least a Level 2 pass grade.
This course is 58% External assessment, and allows students to gain a grade E,C,A or A* at A-Level upon completion. students may be marked through presentations, role play and planning/organising an event, amongst other criteria.
This course is excellent preparation for those students intending to pursue Information Technology/Computing at degree level, of for anyone considering any kind of IT related apprenticeship/career.
