COURSE INFORMATION

Firstly – you can take AS Level Music even if you haven’t taken GCSE Music - as long as you can perform on your chosen instrument or voice to Grade 5 standard.

You will have to study prescribed Set Works and Harmony, both new at AS Level Music.

It will be an advantage if you have an understanding of Music theory – if you haven’t don’t panic, you can start now (ABRSM Music Theory Grade 1 Workbook).

Transferable Skills:

• Dedication – it takes time to master an instrument.  Anyone who has A Level Music will have dedicated time to preparing performances.

• Listening skills - every employer wants someone that will listen.  This is a vital part of A level Music.

• Group work – being a team player (in a band or smaller group).

• Creativity – composing a piece of music.
