Teaching Assistant Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at Bedford College

Course description

This Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship is designed to increase your skills and knowledge in your role of supporting pupils’ learning, whether you’re a teaching assistant, a learning support assistant or a special needs assistant. This course will combine the practical hands-on experience of the workplace with the knowledge and understanding gained through a College course.

Course content

During this apprenticeship you will study towards a number of qualifications, including:

  • CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English •Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in ICT

Entry requirements

You must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job role and have 4 GCSEs A*-C, including English and Maths. Entry will also be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Assessment

As the Apprenticeship progresses you will be assessed in a number of different ways, including practical demonstrations, observations in the workplace and exams for functional skills.

Future opportunities

Upon completion of this Apprenticeship you may wish to continue your studies at a higher level; for example a Foundation Degree for teaching assistants or supporting teaching and learning.

Further information

Acceptance will be subject to interview by the apprenticeship team and following results of skills assessment for Functional skills ability and occupational aptitude.
