Art, Craft and Design A Level at London Academy

Course description

Art and design is not just a subject to learn, but an activity that you can practise: with your hands, your eyes, and your whole personality.

This is a practical, creative course in which you will produce a wide range of work in both 2D and 3D materials and techniques. You will work in the following specialist areas: painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, illustration, digital media, ceramics, sculpture, interior design.

You will learn to produce personal and imaginative responses to a number of themes and briefs, which will develop your initiative and your ability to work independently – skills required in most careers today. You will also learn about the visual culture in which we live, including media and the world of design.

Contemporary art and design is a very exciting area of study, and it opens up many creative opportunities for your future. This course can be taken along with any of the others offered in the Art department for those of you who want to pursue a career in one of the many specialist areas of art and design. GCSE grade C or above.
