AS Level Textiles at Moseley Park

Course description


For students who are passionate about Art and Design and are looking to build upon and extend their skills gained at GCSE. Art and Design at Post 16 gives students exposure to different aspects of art and design, allowing them to display their abilities in a variety of artistic disciplines and demonstrate their understanding of these contexts.

Course content

Coursework Portfolio – students produce a portfolio of work from starting points, topics or themes determined by their centre. The focus is on including work that shows exploration, research, acquisition of techniques and skills.
Controlled Assignment – students select one starting point from a question paper. Students are to be given a minimum of three weeks in which to plan and prepare. Students are then given five hours of controlled time to work on developing their ideas to realisation/outcome.

Entry requirements

Minimum grade C or equivalent GCSE in Art and Design and English.


Coursework Portfolio: 60% of the total AS marks 30% the total A Level marks.

Controlled Assignment: 40% of the total AS marks. 20% of the total A Level marks.

All coursework and exam work is internally assessed and externally moderated.
