Children and Young People Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bedford College
This Level 2 Child Care Apprenticeship will allow you to develop the skills and knowledge required for working in a child care setting with children aged 0-19 years. The introductory units will give you an insight into how children develop and learn, while the choice of pathways can be tailored to meet the vocational area you are working with (social work, early years or schools, for example). This course will combine the practical hands-on experience of the workplace with the knowledge and understanding gained through a college course. This Apprenticeship will take up to two years to complete. You will be required to attend College on a day-release basis every Friday, where you will study for functional skills and theory sessions. These will cover the underpinning knowledge which sits behind the vocational qualification.
To begin this Apprenticeship you must be employed in a child care environment, working a minimum of thirty hours per week. You must also hold a minimum of two GCSEs grade D or above, including Maths and English. You must also be willing to undergo an enhance Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
As the Apprenticeship progresses you will be assessed in a number of different ways, including practical demonstrations, observations in the workplace and exams for functional skills.
On successful completion of this Apprenticeship you could progress on to study a relevant Level 3 Apprenticeship in Child Care.
If you are not already employed in a relevant field we can help you find a placement.
