BTEC in Sport at Verulam School
The 60-credit BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma extends the focus of the BTEC Level 2 and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma offers greater flexibility and a choice of emphasis through the optional units. It is equivalent to one GCE A Level.
Students study four mandatory units:
- Unit 1: Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
- Unit 2: The Physiology of Fitness
- Unit 3: Assessing Risk in Sport
- Unit 4: Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
In year two of the course three more units (to make seven in total) are completed which may include Current Issues in Sport, Psychology for Sports Performance and Practical Sport.
Merit in BTEC Sport Level 2 if studied at GCSE or C or above in GCSE PE & English Language.
