Course description

This is ideal for those who want to progress to higher education or pursue a career in costume design. The work is creative and demonstrates a range of skills, knowledge and understanding in all pathways, with some exceptionally exciting and innovative ideas. Students are well directed and supported and respond with engagement and enthusiasm.

  • functional skills in maths and English

Entry requirements

  • four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and an art-related subject, with maths at grade D or above, or
  • UAL Art and Design Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent) and maths and English at level 1
  • you will be asked to provide evidence of your ability in the subject which could be in the form of a portfolio
  • successful attendance at interview event and satisfactory references


  • your work will be assessed through a mixture of practical tasks and supporting written material
  • your progress will be supported by regular, ongoing feedback throughout the course
  • there are no exams on the main award although there may be exams for functional skills

    • September 2014 sees the grand unveiling of a new £45 million Thurrock Campus in Grays which will include restaurants, health facilities, shops and an advice centre. There will also be specialist workshop and studio spaces linked to courses for technology, media and creative arts, and facilities for art, design, logistics, engineering and IT courses.
