Secretarial, Administration and Office Skills with ECDL Essential OCR Level 2 Diploma at Bromley College of Further & Higher Education

Course description

This level 2 course will provide students with the knowledge and practical skills to work in a variety of secretarial and administrative posts at junior level.  It may be used as a preparatory qualification to the level 3 course.

This course includes

  • OCR Diploma in Administration Level 2 incorporating OCR Certificate in Text Processing (Business Professional) which includes text production, audio transcription, business presentations, medical word processing, and speed keying
  • ECDL Essential

Course content

Business Administration - you will develop essential knowledge of how to carry out everyday and more complex administrative tasks, such as managing information, organising travel and supporting events. You will gain an understanding of employment rights, working with others and customer service in a business environment.

Text Processing - this qualification will provide you with the skills and knowledge to produce a variety of standard business documents - a skill you will need in order to work in a modern office environment. You will also learn to touch type, enabling you to develop and improve your speed. You will work at your own pace, which will create opportunities to achieve the qualification at a higher level.

ECDL Essentials - The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification which will enable you to demonstrate your competence in computer skills and includes units on email and internet, security and managing the computer.

You will study in bright, modern classrooms using up-to-date software packages that are commonly used in business. You will receive full tutorial support and have access to online resources.

 

Entry requirements

Three GCSEs with grades of C or above. These GCSEs should include English language.

Assessment

Assessment is by course work/assignments, which are marked by teaching staff and verified by the exam boards.  Text processing is an external examination, and sittings are held throughout the year.

Future opportunities

Level 3 Diploma in Administration.  Alternatively, students may choose to seek employment as a junior administrator/secretary in a wide variety of business environments.
