Travel and Tourism Level 3 at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

Tourism is in the top five in Britain employing 2.6 million people. The level 3 in Travel and Tourism is a one year programme of study which enables learners to develop substantial core knowledge of the travel and tourism industry. Taught by industry experts, learners will be occupationally ready to take up employment within the travel and tourism industry upon successful completion of the course. 

Course content

You will study units such as: • Investigating the Travel and Tourism Sector • The Business of Travel and Tourism • The UK as a Destination • Customer Service in Travel and Tourism • Preparing for Employment in Travel and Tourism • Long-haul and European Travel Destinations • Retail Travel • Work Experience in Travel and Tourism Sector

All LMC students will receive one-to-one tutorial support.

All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE Maths, English if not already awarded an A*-C in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into Further or Higher education, training or employment.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English and maths OR a Merit/Distinction grade in Level 2 related qualification. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager

Assessment

The course is assessed using projects, assignments and role plays. Grades accrued from assessments for each individual unit make your final course grade.

Financial information

There will be numerous fun and educational visits throughout the duration of the course for which an initial cost of £65 is payable at the start of the course. Some places visited over previous years are; Borwick Hall, Greenland's Farm, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackburn Ice Skating, Concorde at Manchester Airport, Manchester Christmas Markets, RAF at Aintree.

Further information

You will be expected to undertake regular home study on this course. 

On completion of this course you will receive a Level 3 in Travel and Tourism.
