Barbering Diploma Level 2 at Canterbury College Not
This highly practical course will give you the skills and knowledge needed to cut men's hair, trim beards and provide an all-round barbering service. You'll train in the College's hairdressing salon which takes on real-life clients.
You will learn about: the hair & beauty industry, how to cut men's hair and how to trim facial hair in a professional salon environment (with real clients). Practical skills are developed on fellow students prior to work on clients. The course has a strong vocational emphasis, allowing you to develop practical skills recognised by employers. You'll be encouraged to develop your own abilities, and also to communicate and interact with external clients. This qualification will require you to develop an effective working methodology, which will enable you to react positively and creatively across a diverse range of assignments and creative activities.
You will need 5 GCSEs, two of which must be grade C in both Maths and English. The other GCSEs must be grade D in any subject.
You will be continually assessed throughout the course and will complete practical assessments on paying clients as well as written assignments and online tests. You will create a portfolio of evidence to display your achievement.
This can lead to the Level 3 Hairdressing course at Canterbury College. Entry onto an apprenticeship scheme or employment within the hairdressing industry.
Students will need to purchase (uniform and hairdressing kit from our approved suppliers) and must abide by our professional dress code. More information will be given in the interview. Work experience is highly recommended but not essential. Fee-paying models may be required for some assessments. Course fee: to be discussed at interview.
