AS Design and Technology(Graphics/ Resistant Materials) at Phoenix Academy
This course aims to encourage students to: To develop a broad view of design and technology To develop their capacity to design and make products To develop an understanding of the working properties of materials To appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing. Syllabus AQA AS At AS level students develop an understanding of a broad range of materials, with emphasis on the life cycle of products, manufacture and final disposal. This specification also considers the broader issues for the designer including the environmental sustainability of products and consumer safety: Unit 1: (PROD1) Materials, Components and Application Unit 2: (PROD2) Learning Through Designing and Making
There is no specialist requirement beyond the standard entry requirements, however a Grade ‘B’ or above in Design & Technology at GCSE is an advantage.
Design & Technology is a developing field of study with ever increasing career opportunities, for example in the fields of Product Design, Design Engineering, Surveying, Town Planning, Architecture and CAD/CAM.
