Course content

Year 12 AS  

                      UNIT 1 Written paper: 1hr 30mins UNDERSTANDING DANCE

                      UNIT 2 Choreography and Performance. Practical coursework,

                                   Solo choreography and performance

                                   Performance in a duo/trio

Year 13 A2

                      UNIT 4 Written paper: 1hr 30mins APPRECIATION: CONTENT & CONTEXT

UNIT 5 Practical Examination

   SECTION A: Group choreography

   SECTION B: Solo performance

 

Entry requirements

It is desirable to have achieved a GCSE or BTEC qualification in Dance but not always necessary, dependent upon the students previous experience in Dance.

Assessment

In Year 12 there is a moderation programme - the practical work is marked by a visiting examiner in negotiation with the Dance teacher. There is a written examination.

In Year 13 the practical work (performance and choreography) is examined by a visiting examiner. There is a written examination.

Future opportunities

Degree studies in Dance, possibly leading to a career as a performer in choreography or in teaching.
