Italian *FEES PAYABLE* at Clifton College

Course description

Clifton is unusual in the range of languages it is possible to study, and in giving the opportunity to start a new language in the Sixth Form subject to timetabling restraints. Who knows, the language you learn here may turn into your chosen subject at University, as has happened to several recent sector E students. You may also have the opportunity of spending one of your years at University abroad.

If you are starting a new language, you will normally have done a GCSE, and you already know how to learn a language, so you can make quick progress. Sector E languages are a rewarding way to learn a language and enhance your CV.

Course content

Italian is often considered the world’s most beautiful language, and it is a very rewarding one to learn. A knowledge of other European languages, particularly closely related ones such as French, Spanish and Latin, makes it relatively easy to pick up, and even a basic knowledge makes it easier to appreciate Italian food, Opera, the sights of Rome, Florence and Venice, in short la dolce vita.

Entry requirements

Progress clearly depends on ability and willingness to commit; eight students have recently achieved A* in Italian, most of them after only one year. Italian complements Art History, Music and other languages particularly well. For more details please see Mr Siddons.
