Digital Media Level 3 Diploma at West Herts College

Course description

Digital technology has transformed the way in which we produce and consume media and is the future for entertainment and marketing.

Course content

You will build a portfolio of work, both digital and sketchbook based, while exploring and experimenting across a broad range of media including: drawing and life drawing, the use of colour, form, design, video production and animation.

Visiting speakers will bring the industry to life. You can expect expert tuition in specialist studios with all the latest kit. Key subject areas include:

You will be exploring and experimenting across a broad spectrum of media, including:

  • 3D and 2D animation
  • Video editing
  • Digital advertising
  • Drawing and life drawing
  • Illustration

In addition, you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs (A*-C), including English or maths, or completion of the Level 2 programme, and a portfolio of work. You will also be required to attend a course introduction meeting.

Future opportunities

Further study options are Foundation or Honours degrees in 2D and 3D animation, visual effects and games character design. Potential career opportunities lie in the design or media industry, including web design, games design or animation.
